There are too many applications of statistics to even begin to name them all. If you are interested in quantifying research outcomes then STATS will be where you will end up. Statistics seeks to explain and quantify variability and make predictions. For this to happen models need to be made assumptions verified and analyses correctly performed.
The Spring semester (2016) seminars begin Jan 19 (Advanced) and Jan 21 (Intro) Floor 2 PHSC rooms 230/1. If you want to advance but have little background then you could attend both. Otherwise take your pick. Both seminar series major on R and statistical concepts. The Advanced series will be moving into glms (Generalized Linear Models) and the introductory series will continue to look at basic univariate results.
